Stunning white sand beaches and vivid coral reefs might be the star of a holiday in Fiji, but you really shouldn’t overlook the island’s lush landscapes. Look inland for refreshing waterfall dips, rafting and tubing adventures on the river or an invigorating hike. If you’re in the Coral Coast, stop by the Sigatoka Sand Dune National Park just outside Sigatoka town. Besides the rewarding hike, you’ll be treated to some awesome views over the rolling dunes and windswept coast. It’s best scaled in the mornings or near sunset when the sun’s not too hot.
For an activity that the whole family can enjoy, take some time out at a local waterpark, especially those that are within walking distances of the local golf courses.

Sign up for a guided snorkel to the outer reef or take the kids snorkelling just off the beach. You’ll bask in the reef’s warm waters while keeping your eyes peeled for cute little clownfish, brightly coloured parrotfish and crabs hiding in the rock crevices.
If you’re anywhere near Denarau, it’s easy to hop aboard a day cruise to any of the mesmerising Mamanuca islands. It’s an excellent way to see the outer islands, snorkel some pristine reefs and get your dose of Vitamin C.
The ideal family activity, this quirky ride is a fun little adventure along a disused sugarcane railway in the scenic Coral Coast.
You won’t even need to peddle the bikes. Just sit back, enjoy the views and let the solar-powered motor do all the heavy lifting. You’ll pass through mangrove and coastal forests, past traditional Fijian villages and end up at sweet little picnic spot on a deserted beach. Not a bad way to spend the day.
