WHO WE ARE AND BACKGROUND 

  • We are Tourism Fiji (“We”, “we”, “our”, “TF”) and are the Fiji Government statutory authority responsible for international and domestic tourism marketing whose principal place of business is at:

  • This privacy policy (the "Policy") refers to the website, https://corporate.fiji.travel (the "Website"). 
  • Your privacy is of paramount importance to us and TF recognises the importance of your privacy rights, and in turn, the importance of being transparent about how we collect, use, and share information about you. This Policy applies to the Website, applications and services related thereto (the “Service”). This Policy explains the types of information that we may collect and hold, how that information is used and with whom the data is shared. It also sets out how you can contact us if you have any queries or concerns about this information. Your use of the Website and any micro-sites is subject to your agreement with this Policy.
  • In this Policy "Personal information" is any information that can reasonably be used to identify an individual and may include name, address, email address, phone number, login information (account number, password), and social media account information. 


YOUR USE OF THE WEBSITE 
 

  • By entering into this Website and providing your consent to our use of your Personal Information in accordance with the terms of this Policy indicates that the user has reviewed this Policy and has agreed to be bound by it. If you do not agree to these terms, you must leave the Website immediately. If you no longer consent to our processing of your Personal Information, you may request that we cease such processing by contacting us via - ‘How to Contact Us’ facility referred to below.  


WE GATHER FROM YOU 

  • We only collect and use individual’s information where we are legally entitled to do so and only to facilitate your efforts to find a TF tourism product or service that suits you so the collection of personal information is limited and always voluntary. As a user of our Website, you may opt-in to receive information from us, in which case we will require certain Personal Information from you. This will include your name and email address, and we may also ask for your postal address if you request a brochure to be mailed to you. Website usage information is collected using cookies (see Section 7 below/Cookies and our Cookies Policy).
  • Whenever you interact with us, you may be asked to provide us with information relating to you. The following types of data may be collected from you:
    • Identity Data includes first name, last name, username or similar identifier, and gender.
    • Contact Data includes delivery address, email address and telephone numbers. 
    • Technical Data includes internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform and other technology on the devices you use to access this Website.
    • Enquiry Data includes data you provided us with when you contact us for customer service assistance (by any means of communication including written communications or via our Website(s), support forums, telephone, email, SMS, or our social media channels) or when you visit us at a public event, such as a trade show or exhibition or participate in one of our surveys, or competitions. We may record all customer service communications and keep information about the particular communication, including your name, the product(s) or services you were interested in, the reason why you contacted us, and the advice we gave you so we can track the resolution of any customer service issues and for customer service training purposes.
    • Usage Data includes information about how you use our Website, products and services, as well as the frequency and pattern of your service use.
    • Marketing and Communications Data includes your preferences in receiving marketing from us and our third-party partners and your communications preferences.


Aggregated Data 
 

  • We collect and collate generic information on all our Website traffic that is only ever represented in aggregate format such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose. Aggregated data may be derived from your Personal Information but is not considered Personal Information in law as this data does not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. For example, we may aggregate your Usage Data to calculate the percentage of users accessing a specific Website feature. We may ask users for feedback (free text entry, quality ratings or similar) from time to time to help analyse the quality and performance of the Website. Information collected for this purpose is done so anonymously and is used to aid our understanding of customer needs and opinions only.  
  • We endeavour to keep your Personal Information accurate and up to date. As such, you must tell us about any changes to such information that you are aware of as soon as possible. You can change your stated interests in respect of whether or not you wish to receive direct marketing from us by clicking ‘unsubscribe’ on any direct marketing electronic communication which you receive from us.  



HOW WE COLLECT YOUR INFORMATION 
 

  • We use different methods to collect data from and about you including through: 
  • Direct interactions. You may give us your Identity, and contact information by filling in forms or by corresponding with us by post, phone, email or otherwise. This includes Personal Information you provide when you: 
    • subscribe to our service or publications; 
    • request marketing to be sent to you; 
    • enter a competition, promotion or completing a survey; or 
    • give us some feedback. 
  • Automated technologies or interactions. As you interact with our Website, we may automatically collect Technical Data about your equipment, browsing actions and patterns. We collect this Personal Information by using cookies, server logs and other similar technologies. We may also receive Technical Data about you if you visit other websites employing our cookies, this Technical Data may include:
    • Details of your usage patterns, the content (including any advertisements) that you view and interact with including information on the services and applications you are using in-device to personalise services to your specific needs. For example, when you use our Website, we may collect information about your visit, such as your browser software, which pages you view and which items you ‘clicked’ on.
    • Server logs, which hold technical information about your use of our service, or Website, such as your IP address, device ID(s), domain, device and application settings, errors and hardware activity. We may use your IP address to determine your location/country of origin.
    • Device Information such as your device ID(s), including information about where your device is physically located. For example, when you are using a geo-location service or application and you have given consent to your location being shared. 
    • Interests and preferences that you specify during set up or registration of any service or information.
  • Third parties or publicly available sources. We may receive Personal Information about you from various third parties and public sources as set out below:
    • Identity and contact data from data aggregators and other specialist agencies.
    • Identity and contact data from social media if you (i) interact with any of our social network pages or applications; or (ii) you use one of our products or services that allow interaction with social networks, we may receive information relating to your social network accounts. For instance:
  • Logging in: If you log-in to our Website, using your social network account, we may receive basic details from your social network profile. The basic details we receive may depend on your social network account privacy settings; however, they might include your social network ID, name, profile picture, gender and location. 


WHY WE COLLECT/HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION 
 

  • We may collect information from you as necessary in the course of providing our Services for the promotion of tourism in Fiji. We may collect your personal information while monitoring our technology tools and services, including our Website and email communications sent to and from us. We gather information about you when you provide it to us or interact with us directly.
  • We collect information about you to manage your Website account, process your brochure order, and, if you agree, to email you about other Tourism Fiji products and services we think may be of interest to you either directly or via tourist agents as requested by you through the newsletter requested on the Website.
  • We collect IP addresses from visitors to our Website (an IP address is a number that can uniquely identify a specific computer or other network device on the internet). This allows us to identify the location of users, to block disruptive use and to establish the number of visits from different countries. We analyse this data for trend and statistics reasons, such as which parts of our Website users are visiting and how long they spend there. We do not link your IP addresses to anything personally identifiable to you.
  • Our use of your Personal Information may in certain jurisdictions require us to have a legal basis to process your personal information. In most cases the legal basis will be either:
    • To meet our legitimate interests, for example to understand how you use our Website and to enable us to derive knowledge from that enable us to develop it. When we process personal information to meet our legitimate interests, we will put in place robust safeguards to protect your privacy and to ensure that our legitimate interests are not overridden by your interests, fundamental rights and freedoms; or
    • Having obtained your consent to collect and use certain types of personal information (for example, in relation to any direct marketing activities, cookies and tracking technologies). If we ask for your consent to process your personal information, you may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us using the details at the end of this privacy notice or using any other specific mechanism we notify you of. 


HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA 
 

  • We will only use your Personal Information for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason and that reason is compatible with the original purpose. Where we wish to use your Personal Information in any other way, we will ensure that we notify you and get your consent first. You will be given the opportunity to withhold or withdraw your consent for the use of your Personal Information for purposes other than those listed in this Policy. If you wish to get an explanation as to how the processing for the new purpose is compatible with the original purpose, please contact us using the details set out at the bottom of this Policy. If we need to use your Personal Information for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and we will explain the legal basis which allows us to do so.  
  • Please note that we may process your Personal Information without your knowledge or consent, in compliance with the above rules, where this is required or permitted by law.
  • Direct marketing and research
    • We may use and disclose your personal information for marketing purposes (but we will not sell your personal information to any third party). We may contact you about our products and services (including our Website), the products and services of other people, or related special offers from our business partners, that we think may be of interest to you. This information may be sent to you by email, SMS or by other means.
    • We may use and disclose your personal information to carry out consumer and market research, compile demographics and perform other research and analysis so that we can develop and implement initiatives to improve our services, improve the design, construction and operation of our products and identify people likely to be interested in our products and services.
    • You can opt-out of receiving marketing communications from us at any time by following the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the communication or contacting us using the contact details below. Unsubscribing from promotional communications will not stop service-related communications from us, such as administrative alerts in relation to your account. 
  • De-identification 
  • We may de-identify information about you so that the information can no longer be used to identify you. We may use and disclose de-identified personal information in the course of our business (including in any promotional or marketing material). If we need to use or disclose your personal information for any other purpose, or for a purpose unrelated to the purpose for which we collected your personal information, we will obtain your consent first.  We may ask for your express consent or your consent may be implied by an action you take (or don’t take)

YOUR DATA RIGHTS 

  • You have the following rights and we will comply with such rights in respect of your Personal Information: 
    • the right of access to Personal Information relating to you;  
    • the right to correct any mistakes in your Personal Information; 
    • the right to ask us to stop contacting you with direct marketing; 
    • rights in relation to automated decision taking;  
    • the right to restrict or prevent your Personal Information being processed; 
    • the right to have your Personal Information ported to another data controller; 
    • the right to erasure; and 
    • the right to complain if you believe we have not handled your Personal Information in accordance with the applicable data protection legislation. 
  • If you have any comments, concerns or complaints about our use of your Personal Information, please contact us (see ‘How To Contact Us’ below). We will respond to any rights that you exercise within a month of receiving your request, unless the request is particularly complex or cumbersome, in which case we will respond within three months (we will inform you within the first month if it will take longer than one month for us to respond).  

WITHDRAWAL OF CONSENT 

  • If you no longer consent to our processing of your Personal Information (in respect of any matter referred to in this Policy as requiring your consent), you may request that we cease such processing by contacting us via the ‘How To Contact Us’ facility referred to below. Please note that if you withdraw your consent to such processing, it may not be possible for us to provide all/part of the Service to you. 

WITH WHOM WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION  

  • We will not share your Personal Information without your consent or unless required by law (except as set out in this Policy). If we become involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some of all of our assets, your Personal Information will not be transferred to any third party unless there are adequate safeguards in place with the recipient in respect of the security of your Personal Information. 
  • We restrict access to your Personal Information to employees, contractors, and agents who need such access in order to operate, develop, or improve our Service. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination, civil litigation and/or criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations. 
  • We may also share your Personal Information with our third-party suppliers who assist us in the provision of Tourism Services in Fiji and are identified on our Website.
  • We also share your Personal Information with various third parties (subject to having appropriate contracts in place with such third parties) e.g. our travel partners but only if you have explicitly consented to this sharing. 
  • Your Personal information may be transferred to, stored at, or accessed from a destination outside the country where you reside for the purposes of us providing the Service. It may also be processed by staff operating outside your country of residence. By submitting Your personal information, you explicitly consent to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your Personal Information is treated securely and in accordance with this Policy.  
  • All information you provide to us is stored on our (or contracted third party) secure servers.  


THIRD PARTY WEBSITES 
 

  • This Policy applies to Websites and services that are owned and operated by us. We do not exercise control over the sites/applications that may be linked from the Service. These other sites/applications may place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data or solicit personal information from you. You acknowledge that the Service that we provide may enable or assist you to access the Website content of, correspond with, and purchase goods and services from, third parties via third-party websites and that you do so solely at your own risk. We make no representation or commitment and shall have no liability or obligation whatsoever in relation to the content or use of, or correspondence with, any such third-party website, or any transactions completed, and any contract entered into by you, with any such third party and the use by any such third-party of your Personal Information. We do not endorse or approve any third-party website nor the content of any of the third-party website made available via the Service. We encourage you to carefully familiarize yourself with the terms of use and privacy policies applicable to any websites and/or services operated by third parties. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third parties.  


HOW DO WE PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION? 
 

  • We do our utmost to protect user privacy through the appropriate use of security technology. We restrict access to your Personal Information to employees, contractors and agents who need to know your Personal Information in order to operate, develop or improve the services that we provide. We ensure that we have appropriate physical and technological security measures to protect your information; and we ensure that when we outsource any processes that the service provider has appropriate security measures in place. However, our Service may contain hyperlinks to websites owned and operated by third parties. These third-party websites have their own privacy policies, including cookies. We do not accept any responsibility or liability for the privacy practices of such third-party websites and your use of such websites is at your own risk. We will implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risks that are presented by the processing of your Personal Information.  
  • As our Website is linked to the internet, and the internet is inherently insecure, we cannot provide any assurance regarding the security of transmission of information that you communicate to us online. We also cannot guarantee that the information that you provide will not be intercepted while being transmitted over the Internet. Accordingly, any personal information or other information which you transmit to us online is transmitted at your own risk. 


RETENTION OF PERSONAL DATA 
 

  • Your Personal Information will be kept and stored for such period of time as we deem necessary taking into account the purpose for which it was collected in the first instance. This may include retaining your Personal Information as necessary to administer Your Account, comply with our legal obligations, to resolve disputes, to support business operations, and to continue to develop and improve our Service. It is important that the Personal Information we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your Personal Information changes during your relationship with us. 
  • Where we retain information for Service improvement and development, we take steps to eliminate information that directly identifies you, and we only use the information to uncover collective insights about the use of our Service, not to specifically analyse personal characteristics about you.

Tourism Fiji’s social media channels have been created to help travellers plan their visit to Fiji and for those who have visited, to share about their experiences to help inspire others.

For those who are dreaming of their next holiday and planning a visit to Fiji, we encourage you to join the conversation across our channels to learn more about the unique, rich, and diverse range of experiences we have to offer during your visit.

If you have a love for holidaying in Fiji, we welcome you to share the images and videos captured while visiting our shores.

Please note that Tourism Fiji will not be held responsible for any comments that are generated on our channels and we do not post as a representative of the opinions of Tourism Fiji or the Fijian Government.

While we are open to free expressions of opinions, we would love for our online communities to be as pristine as our 333 islands, so we will delete posts or comments if they contain:
 

  • Spam, advertising, link baiting and inaccurate or misleading information.
  • Hateful speech, defamation, or illegal and violent comments.
  • Any other content that is deemed inappropriate at the discretion of Tourism Fiji.
  • Users that refuse to adhere to the conditions above will be blocked from Tourism Fiji’s social pages.

If you are happy for us to embed your original photo or video from Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube on fiji.com.fj (Tourism Fiji’s official website) and you are ok with us sharing your photos/videos on the @tourismfiji social media accounts, just reply to our comment with #ThanksFiji or reply to our direct message.

Once you have granted permission of the use of your content, Tourism Fiji will be sure to credit the respective image or video to its creator and have the right to modify or reproduce your content for marketing purposes, non-exclusively, royalty-free, worldwide and in perpetuity.

You are permitted to revoke the rights you granted to Tourism Fiji at any time by simply emailing digital@tourismfiji.com.fj to advise us that you no longer wish to share your content with us.
