Where Happiness Comes Naturally: Behind the scenes of Tourism Fiji’s New Brand Campaign

Fiji’s idyllic islands are the perfect destination for anyone seeking a tropical paradise. To make Tourism Fiji’s new brand campaign “Where Happiness Comes Naturally”, we travelled to many regions across Fiji to capture the essence of Fiji’s natural beauty and the warmth of its rich culture and people. Use this list of shoot locations for inspiration on your next Fijian holiday.

Coral Coast

Coral Coast: Where Happiness Begins

The opening scene of the ‘Where Happiness Comes Naturally’ brand video takes place in Naidiri Village – a scenic village on the Coral Coast. This beautiful stretch of coastline on Viti Levu’s southern coast – known for its secluded bays, beautiful beaches and fringing coral reef - is one of Fiji’s most popular tourism regions. Scattered with family-friendly resorts, there are lots of opportunities for outdoor adventures like snorkeling, hiking on the massive Sigatoka Sand Dunes, jetboat rides up the Sigatoka River, coastal rail rides with Ecotrax or visits to traditional Fijian villages just like Nadiri. For the ideal mix of beach and highland experiences, head to the Coral Coast.

Savusavu

Salt Lake Savusavu

Savusavu: Fiji's Hidden Gem

The laid-back charm and outdoor experiences offered by this picturesque small town on the lush southern coast of Vanua Levu was a key reason it was chosen as a photography location. From KokoMana’s sustainable chocolate tours, lazy river tubing floats to the Salt Lake or cool dips beneath Vuadomo’s thundering waterfall, there was plenty of inspiration for capturing happy moments. The region is also known for its incredible diving in Savusavu Bay and Natewa Bay. But don’t let the quiet country charm fool you. This slice of paradise is strewn with luxury accommodation like Savasi Island Resort and Jean Michel Cousteau Resort (two shoot locations) as well as many smaller charming resorts, luxurious private villas and quaint homestays to base yourself at while you explore the beauty of this more remote region.

Yasawa Islands: Fiji's Secluded Paradise

With its string of twenty plus islands, rugged volcanic peaks and secluded beaches, the Yasawa Islands is nothing short of breathtaking. To capture the essence of this region, the production team headed to Paradise Cove Resort, Manta Ray Island Resort and Barefoot Manta resort in the middle of the island chain. This region off the northwestern coast of Viti Levu offers a range of places to stay from budget to luxury and is a popular destination for all types of travelers. Adventurers will find plenty to do here, from diving pristine reefs, hiking to scenic hilltop lookouts or exploring the Yasawas famed white sand beaches. Suncoast

Navala Village Tradition

Suncoast: Capturing Tradition in Navala Village

To capture the rugged beauty of Fiji’s interior, the brand photography shoot headed into the heart of Viti Levu’s mountainous Suncoast. The location – Navala Village – is nestled in a small valley by the Ba River and stands out amongst others in Fiji for being one of the few villages that still builds Fijian houses known as 'bure’ using traditional techniques and materials. With its mountain backdrop and neat rows of bures surrounding a central ‘rara’ (grassy village green), Navala Village is picture perfect. Experience Navala’s timeless beauty for yourself on a day-tour from Nadi or on a cross-island hiking adventure with Talanoa Treks.

Fiji’s southernmost islands were represented in the brand shoot by Kokomo Private Island Fiji’s talented chef, Caroline Oakley.
