Tucked into the lush hillside behind Daku Resort, a short seven-minute drive from Savusavu town, KokoMana has been hand-crafting small-batch chocolate since 2018.
This unique forest farm, operated by two chocolate lovers with backgrounds in agricultural research, is no ordinary chocolate making operation. It is a thriving old-growth cocoa farm, intentionally interwoven with a variety of other tropical food trees and native plants. This harmonious mix attracts a bevy of diverse insects and birds that help pollinate the cocoa and keep pesky insects in check. As an additional measure, three adorable cats patrol the agroforest, safeguarding the ripe cocoa pods from rats.
Besides the environment, KokoMana also champions fair trade practices by employing locals and sourcing ingredients like sugar cane and additional cocoa from nearby farms.
