The Shangri-La Marine Education Centre is a key initiative under the Sanctuary project, Shangri-La's CSR program for resorts. The centre was developed to promote awareness of the regions marine ecosystems. Guests are encouraged to participate in activities such as fish house building, coral planting, nature walks and Earthday Thursdays.  

Room types

 Guest rooms offer inviting accommodation with traditional Fijian touches, inspired by natural elements. Each of the 442 rooms has a private balcony providing spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean or the Lagoon.
Larger options include executive suites, 2-bedroom lagoon beach bures and 1-bedroom ocean bures. As they form part of the private spa village, Ocean bures are for couples only and include the use of a golf buggy for convenient transport within the resort.

Unlimited wired broadband internet access is complimentary in all rooms. Free Wi-fi access is available at designated guest areas and conference rooms. Full laundry services and a token-operated self-service laundromat are both available.

Our activities

The Club opens daily from 9am to 12noon and from 1pm to 5pm, with activities for children aged 4-6 years and 7-12 year olds. These include face painting, fish feeding, crab races, crab hunts, frog races, frog hunts, Fiji meke dance lessons, story telling, drawing and more. All children under four years of age require a babysitter.

Unique activities include weekly Earthday Thursdays, with a visit to the Shangri-La Marine Education Centre, tie dye lessons, craft sessions, nature-based activities and movies on the sand.

Our convention facilities comprises our premier Ratu Makutu Events Centre and executive boardroom, the only
stand-alone facility of its capacity in Fiji, the 264-square-metre Davui Hall series and a secretariat room.

Situated in a secluded location close to the
9-hole Peter Thomson executive golf course, our convention facilities offer a wide range of meeting options.

The Ratu Makutu Events Centre can accomodate 650 guests. It features high ceillings, spacious function areas and two patios - one that overlooks the golf course and another that overlooks the Rara lawn. The building showcases a modern aesthetic design based on traditional Fijian architecture and ambience evident in its high ceilings and large wooden beams. The centre also has a separate executive boardroom.


Those who dream of getting married in paradise will find the ideal setting in our beautiful private island.

The Seaside Chapel heads the list of sought after venues for weddings set in a plantation of palm trees, and a private garden at the waters' edge. Glass walls from ceiling to floor provide the couple and their guests with sweeping views of the majestic Pacific Ocean.

The chapel seats up to 40 guests. Afternoon weddings are recommended just before the sun sets, when the scenic hue of sea and sky are at their best.

For small gatherings, our Takali Beach offers a stretch of white sand beach overlooking the reef. It is the perfect barefoot venue for exchanging vows as the sun sets over the horizon. Close by and overlooking Takali Beach is the Takali Cabana, perfect for an intimate wedding and romantic candlit dinner for two.

Our Reef Lawn, another ideal outdoor venue, is set in a beautiful tropical garden and offers stunning ocean vistas.

Corporate Social Responsibility 

Under the umbrella of Shangri-La's Corporate Social Responsibility 'Sustainability' programme, Shangri-La's Fijian Resort and Spa is involved in community work under the banner of its 'Embrace' and 'Sanctuary' projects.

Embrace is Shangri-La's Care for People project that is aimed at providing the highest level of educational and health support in underprivileged communities and Sanctuary is Shangri-La's Care for Nature project that promotes conservation and restoration of biodiversity.

Shangri-La's Fijian Resort and Spa supports projects under Embrace and Sanctuary with extensive support with community schools and as well as awareness and outreach for its marine conservation programme through the
Shangri-La Marine Education Centre located at the resort.
